Testimonials - fly fishing lessons

Ulsterman Darren Clarke may be chasing birdies at the Open at Carnoustie this week. However away from the course, he is learning another skill. Darren has booked into the Kingennie country resort which is owned by farmer sand former Scottish fly fishing champion Mike Forbes.

‘He has shown some promise’, said Mike, whose dad Graham, farms at Whitecroft, near Dundee.

The resort now features a nine-hole golf course, driving range and a putting green created in the image of the Cairngorms mountain range.

Said Mike ‘I modelled it on the Himalayas putting green at St Andrews and have had other Open players such as Niclas Fasth, Thomas Bjorn, Nick Dougherty and Alastair Forsyth try it out’

Mike has three Forbes uncles in farming – John at Slains Park, Kinneff, Mike at Broombank, Dunfermline and David in Moray at Westerfolds, Duffus
