Plans approved for a new £55m golf, hotel and housing development.

Mr Forbes said it was a hugely positive decision and is promising to work with the community as he takes forward work on the site, to be known as The Angus.

He added "Delivering the first five star hotel and championship golf facility which will complement the famous Carnoustie links, bringing with it a massive cash injection for the local economy, was my focus when we first proposed this development.

The new facility will create more than 200 full time jobs.

An international competition standard 18 hole championship course approved by Darren Clarke will be the centrepiece of the development alongside a five star hotel and spa.

High standard residential housing, including luxury fairway side villas, along with standard and affordable housing form part of the 160 property development within the site.
